Ball python locality?

414reptiles Apr 08, 2006 11:34 AM

okay if people are so crazy about the locality of giant geckos, green tree pythons and other odds and ends why don't we care about the locality of our balls? Is there a difference? There might be. Just wondering

I guess instead of location we have breeder comparisons - ie: which pastel line is best - wouldn't that pretty much be the same?

From my limited knowledge of GTPs I know that different locations produce a variety of different colorings and temperaments, etc. (maybe that's just rumor?) but a ball is pretty much just a ball. And I don't follow geckos or the rest so I couldn't tell you.

There are regions where balls are farmed where they produce monster balls - but then again the same can be acheived by breeders here so I'm not sure there is any significant added benefit. I guess if you were looking for a specific morph and it was only availabe in one area in Africa then that is where you would likely to acquire your animals. But for the most part there isn't a huge difference between where the snakes are from especially once they've been in the US for several generations and out bred several times removed.
