any one know what kind of snake this is? if no one gets it ill give a geographical clue

I lightened it up to se it better and it looks to me like one of the Central or South American Coral Snakes. I wouldn't be able to begin to guess which one.

it was found in ecuador, east of the andes

I will have to guess Oxyrhophus sp. I couldn't tell you the species without cheating, so I will guess O. petola.
Of course, if I'm in the wrong part of the world (I'll check the clue next), I would have to go with a species of Lycodon.

yes, Oxyrhopus sp. nicely done. but, not a petola. oxyrhopus is a b*tch of a genus without the specimen in hand though, due to age and geographic related color and pattern morphs. but, the field has been narrowed now.... good luck!

Oxyrhopus melanogenys.

yes, its a melogenys. a beautiful little snake that i found near our camp on the Rio Napo in Ecuador. you say you owned one... do you know any breeders? or was it imported. i love the oxyrhopus genus and would love to eventually keep some once im back in the states and settled down

Mine came in mis-ided as O. petola. Unfortunately the source dried up so I could never obtain a pair. They are great lttle snakes.
