Question for Rico @ Signal

Plisskin Apr 08, 2006 08:48 PM

I am almost done reading Greg Maxwell's book and am planning on ordering my cage soon from PVC cages for a chondro yearling I want to purchase in the next few months. I was hoping to find a CB Aru-type mostly bright green with hopes of a few slight blue stripes as it matures. I am not a rich person by any means but do you think that's possible for around $500 give or take? Are there any breeding projects going on right now? I was hoping to find one that was like a year old or so this way I know it;s healthy and not stressed out but I wanted to order it from Signal Herps because I think I would have the best chance of raising a healthy chondro that way but I worry about the stress from shipping. Are there any breeding projects underway? Sorry for all the questions.

Check out Rico's site for availability and contact information (www.signalherp.com). I'd suggest emailing him directly as opposed to going through this forum. I'd also suggest looking at his available PNG and Mainland pairings if you are wanting a little blue but he has arus as well. Most are around 6-9 months if I am not mistaken. If you are looking for something over 1 year old, he still has some left from his 2004 Biak pairing (I have one of these also). All of the clutches I just mentioned have animals in your price range. I just put a deposit on my 3rd animal from Rico. You will not be disappointed.

You may also want to check out these forums. You can find much more information and get quite a few more responses from experienced keepers than here at KS. To tell you the truth, I am not sure why I still come here.

Thank you for the information. I am going to check out those sites you mentioned. I have a few months still before I can afford the animal because the cage alone is like $400 and I need that to be set up perfectly before I can even begin to start saving for the gtp. The time will give me more opportunity for research. My brother recently purchased two dart frogs from Underground Reptiles and they both had worms and died after a few weeks. He said had he been a little more pro-active he may have been able to save them but didn't act fast enough. He's lucky the two wormed out frogs didn't kill the healthy ones he purchased from breeders which are doing great.

Damn Rico. Now why do ya have to post a sickly looking baby like that? You better send that one to me so I can give it a little TLC. Man, I need to keep up with things more. Thanks for posting that.
