Anyone ever have eggs come early?

Hoochiepucker Apr 08, 2006 09:27 PM

I came home tonight from work and found one of my snakes laying. She wasn't due to lay until sometime around the 21st. She hadn't shed or given me any signs that she was going to lay other than getting very large. The eggs look good so far, I have them in the incubator just like I would have in a couple of weeks so I will wait and see what becomes of them.

Has anyone else had this happen? What were the results? Did the eggs incubate longer than normal to make up for time lost inside the mother?

Thanks

I just had this happen. I wasn't expecting eggs for almost 2 weeks.

I went out of town last Fiday, came home tonight to find eggs. Poor little Delilah (Corn) had laid on the floor of her cage. I feel terrible. I had no idea. No pre-lay shed. No sign....

The eggs look to be good, but are a bit dried out. (Sinking feeling.)

I put them in some moist substrate, just in case there is still hope. I dunno.

How are your eggs looking?

I was wondering if there was any chance that this could be a clutch from last year. (Stranger things have happened.) That perhaps she'll double-clutch. I really have no idea how that works, but I do know that snakes can be surprising sometimes!
