I live in S. Florida.
If I were to entertain like minded friends down for a visit, I would head for Janes Scenic Drive, which winds through the Fakahatchee Strand. (It’s free) The white rock road can be very rough unless they have recently graded it. Once you get past the rock it becomes paved roads we use to call “the Blocks”. Road cruising there at dusk just after a shower will be like one of those shows on TV where they find one thing after another. You can easily chance upon huge diamondbacks, moccasins, pygmy, indigo, basically the whole list. I have seen panther, bear, otter, deer, and a lot of birds that are probably really cool but I’m just not into birds, you know? Please take only photos (then post a couple) so it will be there for others to enjoy. Check out these links, or search for Fakahatchee Strand Preserve State Park or Janes Scenic Drive.
