I was wondering what the benefits are of incubation apposed to just letting the mother take care of the eggs until they hatch?

I think you have better control of the conditions that the eggs are subjected to if you use an incubator, plus you can get the mom back in good shape. With a retic, there is quite a wait for the eggs to hatch, and you probably would not want to feed the mom if she was coiled around the clutch(I am not sure if she would even eat). I had a clutch hatch a couple of weeks ago (using an incubator)and the mom is probably heavier now than she was before breeding her last fall. I am sure there are many other considerations for and against, these are just the ones that came to mind.
