little brown snake with an orange stomac

unvme601 Apr 09, 2006 12:37 PM

i just this morning found this little snake, about the size of a worm. its got a dark brown head, a light brown body and the bottom of it is bright orange. i think its a baby because its so small and really friendly.
i'd like to know what kind of snake it is and if it would be able to be put in a 20 gallon aquarium with a ball python, you think they would bother each other? oh and i also would like to know what i nshould feed it, im thinking maybe pinkies or crickets, but even those may be too big for his little head

oh and ill be po9sting picture when i find out how

Telling us where the snake lived before you found it would help a lot. Like the continent, country, section of the country.

From your description, it could well be a red bellied snake, Storeria occipitomaculata. They feed on slugs, earthworms, & other soft- bodied insects.

I have 2 Florida Redbellies, and they will eat nothing but slugs. I have tried earthworms, a variety of soft bellied insects, even tried deshelling snails, but to no avail. Very sweet little snakes, but I would never keep it with your other snake. One thing is the risk of parasitic or viral transferance. They can easily be housed in a 10 or 5 gallon (10 is better).
