Question about star gazing

tsusnakeguy Apr 09, 2006 01:19 PM

Ok my male 6 foot male colombian has been standing his front part of his body and head up and will do that for a while. I know that there is star gazing which can mean they have i think it is IBD but he ony seems to do it in front of the vent on the back of his cage so what does everyone think? I really hope he isnt sick because I just got him in Jan. with a 7 foot female.

This is normal posture. At worst, you need to address a caging problem and he's wondering how to get out through the vent.

Star-gazing will see a boa that is unable to hold it's balance. It's not a static position, because the head continues to twist up and over, like it's doing a backwards/sideways summersault. The boa will be obviously mentally ill. (caused by encephalitis associated with IBD, toxicosis, or septicemia usually.)

I was getting worried because he was in with two of my other boas for about a month and it scared me that I may lose some of my favorite pets.
