I went to a local reptile shop and got a new (used) cage. It's a 4' neodesha slant front. I got a good deal on it, considering it looks like it was never used. I'm a big fan of the neodeshas (was when I was little and had my kingsnake too...though I didn't get one for him). I wish they hadn't gone out of business! Anyways, I'm very satisfied with the purchase. The litter dam on it is about 4-5" tall!
After much deliberation with myself about breeding ball pythons, I think I've decided to wait a while. I'm taking things a bit too fast 
I mean, I just got my baby ball python two monthes ago, and I'm already planning on breeding him? I'd rather wait until he's all grown up to decide. That will also give me a better idea about how much more work and money it would be to keep two of them. The original idea I had with buying the 4' neodesha was to make a removable divider so that I could house the male (Steve) on one side, and the future female on the other side, and then just pull the divider out when it's time to mate. After looking at it though, and mocking up a divider, I just don't think that 24"x20" is enough room for a ball python (for me at least). I like to go above and beyond what the caresheets say with my reptiles, and 24"x20" is barely enough space to fit two hiding spots, a good sized water dish, and still be able to have a good gradient. I'd rather be able to give the little guy 4 hiding spots, a nice big dish of water, and temperature/humdity gradients to choose from.
So as of now, the only breeding project I think I'm going to go through with is breeding some russian tortoises in the future. For the ball pythons...we'll just wait and see how it goes when Steve grows up.
