Iowa snake laws?

bsaffron Apr 09, 2006 08:44 PM

Im planning to move to Iowa. Im getting an apartment and some landlords are concerned about snake laws. Can someone tell me what the laws are concerning boas and pythons?

Thanks
Brendan

Iowa's state laws are mostly for nongame wildlife native to the state. For boas and pythons, it's city and county ordinances -- a real patchwork. Ottumwa, Des Moines, Cedar Rapids (I think) and some other areas are pretty restricted. About all you can do is contact the local governments where you'd move and get copies of their animal control ordinances. I don't know whether they are on line. Good luck.
