jlassiter Apr 09, 2006 10:07 PM

Updated pic of my 2004 holdback female.....She should be ready to go next year....I have a male in mind, but he was hatched this year and will probably not be ready until 2008.....

She is looking good in my opinion....what do you guys think?

This is the only male I am holding back from last years' pairings. I hope to eventually pair him up with the female above, but he has a long way to go.......Wish him luck....

John:

That female is really outstanding. Aside from the keyholed saddles, her color combos are quite striking. What a beauty!

cheers,

bob

Thanks Bob...I like the way the center of the saddles are orangish....I am sure it is the mixture of pigment layers between the red (or lack there of) and the tanish ground color........
I believe that the colors are in layers....I see it in my getula morphs mainly, but it is apparent with my mexicana as well.
Are a snakes' pigmentations (colors) in layers?

I think she's looking great now, I've always liked that female and her ground color is definitely going in the right direction. I dont' see much in the way of speckling on her at all, very clean looking female. You had a good eye when you kept her. Which male are you thinking?

Next year is wide open for this girl....the male will have to grow another year before he is ready.....He was the tiniest hatchling last year. He was so small he was almost transparent looking and about the size of 12 guage wire.....LOL
He was a stubborn feeder at first too, but eventually came around before winter. He is, at most, 12 inches now but is eating great now.......
The female was a real slow feeder, but after a cool down has chowed down for a year now and is over 20 inches long....I think I can get 10 inches on her this year though......
You are going to have to remind me this winter so I can send her to you.......I am sure you want to use that male on at least one more female thus....Me sending her to you.....
Thanks for the compliments guys,

I hope you know that I was just teasing you. I'm sorry. I can tell I made you feel bad and I apologize for that. I sometimes take teasing to far. Sorry Bud.

Thanks Mike....I am glad I got that little male to feed good. And....you are right, not much speckling in the female at all.....She is a good, clean leonis.....I hope one day to produce some leopards like Dan....I am so envious.....LOL

John,
What can I say. I've looked at the photos and all I can say is "WOW"... in fact, I'll say it backwards too, "WOW"!!!!
Also, I am jealous. You've got the serpents I would love to have here. Great choices!
