What Size Cage?

PHLdyPayne Apr 09, 2006 10:37 PM

I am curious what size cage would be good for newly hatched crested geckos? The oldest pair of eggs I have incubating should hatch within the next two weeks and I realized I don't know for sure on the best size of container to use for the babies. I do have a couple very small critter keepers, but they are only about 3" wide x 6" tall x 6" long. Not sure if this would be too small for a single baby crested gecko or perfect. Thought I would ask here before the eggs hatch, this way I will have time to buy the right sized cages and get them all ready.

when i got my crestie as a baby i kept her in an 8x5x6 (LxWxH) critter keeper, and she did just fine.
i used paper towels as substrate and a few small artificial vines here and there and it made a nice temporary home.
when i did get her however, she was already a few weeks old (2-3.
so i think he/she will do fine in the small critter keepers you have, for the first week or so. i have some of the small ones myself and they dont look bad at all.

good luck with your hatchlings
