Where exactly do you...

I have collected herps and breed them for a while now but I have never had any luck herpin'....when people talk about going herping to either collect photos of reptiles, or just go out to collect reptiles, where exactly do people look for them. Like go out in the woods and search under rock? logs?...in fields? I have gone out many times and havent been sucessful in capturing any photos. I will find a snake every so often but that is when I just come across one either on the road, by my house or while I am fishing. I was just wondering where do a lot of people look when they are searching for herps....Thanks

Eric

I have a ton of luck near streams. I find everything from copperheads and cottonmouths to rat snakes and watersnakes and hognose near the water. Good places to go include trashpiles, fields with tall grass, and areas like marshes and/or wetlands. If you see snakes crossing the path in certain areas, maybe make a mental note of where they are and then go back and look around some in the same area. Andy
