Red Spot on leos nose?

lanie024 Apr 10, 2006 01:03 PM

One day i noticed that my the tip of my leos nose was red, and irritated.

I Work at a vet, and i asked him what i should do, because i felt that maybe it was annoying my geck. He (the vet) really didnt say anything, except that when i asked if maybe i should put some h202 on it.. but he said no since the geck. licks his nose all the time.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

And i feed my gecko at least 8 mealworks once a week.

I was told this was too little.

Hes an adult now. How much should i feed him them?

that is too little if they are reg mealies. An adult could easily eat 8 large mealies (superworm size) every week. The red spot is most likely shed skin or a cut from bumping into something. You can put a drop of mineral oil on it, it will just serve as a laxative is he does lick it. Before that tho, I would suggest soaking him and trying to remove the skin urself.

The spot could be a raw spot. Which is probably from him rubing his nose a gainst the glass. If you feed mealworms always leave enough for them to eat periodically.

My 3 month old leo eats about 5 crickets a night, and eats as many mealies as she wants everyday. (around 3-4) I just leave mealworms in at all times in a little dish. I keep it around 6 in there all the time. Oh, and I just decided to name her Isis about 15 miniutes ago! w00t!
