just had the strangest roach experience!

lele Apr 10, 2006 01:16 PM

Cyrus is hunting for all his food but I got some fly larvae the other day so had to try a cup for them - worked great. Well, today I decided to put some small roach nymphs in with them to see if Cyrus was interested (as I cannot let them free range). An hour later I checked the cup - the 3 fly larvae were gone and the three roach nymphs are dead! They were quite alive and kicking when they went in! I am truly stumped as what possibly caused this. Certain insects give off chemical defenses (the roaches for one) but I do not believe fly larvae do and even if they did, I certainly cannot imagine it would KILL a roach! I'll email my entomology prof./friend to see if he can shed light.

Isn't that weird??????
