Just so i can learn from my mistake...

I was always wondering what happened with my baby albino geck.

I bought her from petco because i thought she was so cute (pink and white) and looked like a little fetus.

I gave her crickets a couple of days later and she only ate one.

After that, her appitite was LOW.

Although I had a heating pad in the tank, i was afraid to use a heating lamp because i was afraid that would have been too harsh for her since she was an albino.

She eventually died, but when i plan on buying another baby geck, what should i do? so that next time....i dont feel like a jerk because the geck died lol

dont buy it from petco...most of them get sick b4 they ever get a good home. then when they finally get someone who cares for them its too late. and you do not need a lamp leos are nocturnal and dont really like the light. the light that is already in the room is enough.

The stress from the environment change drops their immune systmes and whatever disease they are harboring takes over. The best thing to do is by a gecko from a reputable breeder. They may cost a little more but you usually end up with a better looking and healthier gecko.

From my experience Petcos have good leopard gecko, and they are pretty cheap, too. You just have to buy them when they have just come in to be able to choose good ones out of the entire batch. Recently, I've bought a patternless one, and I believe he's younger than the high-yellow, but he has quickly gaining weight and is catching up to the high-yellow very quickly! I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it, but I think males tend to eat better and grow bigger because they have eat inorder to grow bigger than the female.

I got my Leo from Petco for 20 bucks last year and she is doing great. I did not have any problems with her adjusting, like I did with my adult african fat-tailed, and her health is exellent. I think it really is luck of the draw. Try to pick out a gecko that looks like it has good weight and health already.
