hypothetically speaking...

I've had my normal female gecko with a normal male gecko for months now. She recently delivered her first clutch of eggs and is soon to deliver the second clutch.

what would happen if i bring out the normal male and introduce an albino male?
at this point she is already carrying the sperm of the normal male.
if the albino male were to mate with her... what would occurr?

just being curious...

Do you mean when both males are in the same area together?

I was told by other people that two males are NOT supposed to be in the same cage together, because they will fight-to the death.

But if you meant just the new male with the female.. i think that would be okay.

But i would double check with other people in the forum.

You can breed a female with multiple males, but you won't know who the father is. She can carry sperm from all of them. You can have a clutch with each hatchlings father being different.

Lets say you took the normal male out and then replaced him with the albino male. Females can actually use the sperm from both males to fertilize the eggs. So you would end up with a bunch of normal, possible het for albino geckos (I say possible hets because you wouldnt know who the father is). When I breed more then one co-dominate ball python to a female, I have actually seen both male traits end up in one clutch of eggs. Im not sure if this ramble makes sense to you, but if it is unclear, just post here and I will try to better explain.

i understand what you are saying.
i asked because i figured the sperm worked on a "first come first serve" basis.
so you are saying that by putting the albino the babies have a chance of coming out het for albino?

Yes that is exactly what I am saying. You will not be able to tell the difference between the fathers, but you have an equal chance (or greater in my opinion) of getting hets as you would normals. Will Wohlers

It is my understanding that when new sperm is introduced the female will allow the old sperm to degrade And hold the new sperm. I could be wrong but this is only my understanding
