Ya, I think this week was an off week. Maybe everyone is busy with their corns and eggs. I know I was just recouping from my trip.

Sorry you had to do the WIR twice for this forum. Nice Job either way.

Hopfully things will be back to abnormal soon. The past week has been very trying around here and the simple task of staring at the computer for a couple hours has proven to be exausting. Today I get to run up to the local pet store and try to dump a couple of Columbian Boas on them. I realy hate to get rid of my Boas but the fact is I must give up my reptile room for my Daughter and simply do not have the room to house the Boas anymore but thats ok at least I can keep my other herps. I moved my entire mouse collony out to the garage and I am hoping and praying that the cold temps wont hinder them productionless. I have had problems in the past with mouse production in cold temps so I am keeping my fingers crossed. The good thing is I have 10 breeder mice so even if they produce less I only have 3 small snakes that are still on fuzzies so they should still be able to keep up. Well my babbling is over, I am off to the pet store to see if they are ready for the Boas.

jasonw: "I am sorry but this just sucks. How can you look at your snake every day and not notice somthing like this coming on long before now?"

Yes it does suck, especially since he didn't make it.
FYI he was fine on 4/8/06. This was a sudden-onset condition, not chronic.

No, I don't handle my snakes every day.
No, I don't disturb them in their hide boxes every day just to look at them.
Yes, I care about my snkes.
No, I didn't delay in getting him to the vet as soon as I was aware.

FWIW me and the vet will do a necropsy tomorrow and expect the biopsy results this week. I will post the results.

Thanks to Steves-Kiki and Cornsnake00 for responding to my Help post.

Respectfully,

John D

Yes please keep us up to date. I would be very interested in hearing what condition can not only come to light but kill a corn snake in 3 days, I would like to know what to watch for with my own snakes

The date was incorrect. When he ate on 4/1/05 I saw no outward sign of anything wrong. The head shot I have posted was taken on March 3, 2006, and he seemed perfectly healthy at that time.

Why did he die? Was it something I did or didn't do, or was it inevitable?

I don't know.

Speculation is pointless - more will be revealed.

10 days is still pretty fast for visible signs to come up and all the sudden for the individual to pass from them, However we do not yet know what the cause was so maybe it was something you did not see. Maybe he just passed from old age. I am sorry if my comments sound rude but I am a stickler for my what I would refer to as perfect herps. Not a scratch, not a bent scale. I have several of them out every single day handling them and visually inspecting them. The only blemishes I see are on my female Eublepharis Macularis from nips from my male while breeding.
