trinket x house snake

mjf Apr 11, 2006 01:21 AM

Would this be possible? They are both tropical, same size, roughly. Both breed all year round?

only way to find out is to try, do you already have pairs? its not that they are tropical, i think it depends on area house are from africa and i believe trinket are asian. if they breed they are most likely able to breed a corn, im going to try that someday.

Jake, actually area is of no concern. If you check the post below(superball), the hybrids parents descended from africa and Sumatra. I think what is less likely is hybrids of tropical and temperate species with the exception of maybe milk snakes. I have a house snake right now. I`m not really that interested in breeding them myself, I just imagined it because the two have so much in common.........Mike

oh, forgot about that and you forgot the burmese x rock. but those are pythons, we are talking about colubrids. it could work, like i said before, gotta try to find out

this most likely wont work the probablity that it works goes to a different level then the amount they have in common i mean a possum wont cross with a racoon and they have more in common then the two species in common generally for a cross to be viable it has to be within the same genus but that doesnt mean out of genus crosses dont happen and prove viable.think about all the hybrids ( not integrades) that dont really make sense ie carpet x macklotts and compare them to the more common ones like the milk n kingsnake crosses, bateaters, etc.hybrids open the door to many many things and can make this trade very interesting and colorful

ps the house snake is so ready to breed it may be worth a shot at crossing it with a few diff cols trinket snake included as well as other small african colubrids let me know if it works
