Hello again,
My 10 year old female Spectacled caiman that laid a clutch of 19 or so infertile eggs this past September, is apparently gravid once more.
She hasn't eaten since March 9th (I've been taking detailed records this year) yet is starting to show signs of thickening in the mid-section. Otherwise she is behaving normally and has great color.
My question is for the "experts" who may have experience with their own collection or in a zoological setting. What may be stimulating her to clutch once more, and is there any way to prevent it? I am concerned about egg-binding, and the overall stress that constant egg production may have on her body in the long term.
Thank you for any help or suggestions.
Rob
