My Older dragons( 2 yrs and 3 yrs) didn't seem to burmate this year. I reduced heat/lights yet they were still pretty active) So I haven't seen them breed yet and usually she is gravid by now. So I just wondered if they will still breed if they did rest for the three months or so?
Also I had a first time female lay eggs and they looked fertile but she laid them on top of the soil in her laying box and by the time I got home they were fairly flat so I didn't save them, because even though they were yellowish more than white I saw blood veins in them. Now this female is as skinny as a rail. I need some diet to get her weight back up. She lost about 60 plus grams! She is eating well but I am still very concerned. Her color is also so washed out. What to do what to do because if she is going to lay again I think it will kill her. Any help on this is greatly appreciated. Thanks Deb

Dragons do not have to brumate to breed, though it does give them a cycle, and entices mating behavior. If you did give them a cool down season, and they did not sleep fully, but just rested they still may benefit from it.

As far as the female goes keep her well hydrated. I notice in my females a huge thirst for water after laying. I'm sure a lot of that weight lost is water weight. Give baths, and try to get her to drink. Start increasing her diet, and get her eating healthier. Supplement her meals with a calcium powder & mutivitamin to try and get back some of what she lost, and get her ready just incase their is another clutch coming.

For the female who lost alot of weight have a fecal done by a vet, just to make sure the stress of egg laying didn't bring a surge of parasites. This could be the case especially if she is eating well but not putting on the weight. Pinky mice and waxworms could be offered to help put weight on but should be used sparingly as both are high in fat and can cause problems it too many are fed over a short period (a pinky or two a week, or half a dozen waxworms fed a couple times during a week, should be good, but don't continue longer than one or two weeks before using regular insects. Still offer usual wholesome greens).

Hello thanks for all the info on feeding and conditioning the female dragon that has lost a lot of weight from laying that clutch. Well yesterday I found 10 slugs in her cage. This is what they looked like: yellow coloration, shaped like torpedos and soft. ( of course some were getting hard from drying out). So what causes the slugs? Is her calcium low, or should I investigate more possibilities? I have only had slugs once before in a WC Ball Python. So just thought I'd ask. She will get another fecal done and a trip to the Vet in the next day or so. Oh and can someone tell me the dosage for Parazap? The outer container disapeared and I have some in the plastic bag. I just thought I would give it to all the other beardies here just for a boost up. I also have Panacur and Doncit I can give if fecals come out positive for parasites. TX Deb
