wearing through flexwatt?

zach_whitman Apr 11, 2006 11:08 PM

In all of my racks I have always dadoed(sp) the shelves or otherwise devised something so that the tubs don't rub directly against the flexwatt. I have always been nervous that the tubs would eventually scratch through the plastic coating and cause open hot spots. However, more and more I am seeing people placing their tubs directly on the flexwatt. This would take tons of time and complexity out of building future racks. Are these people being careless? Will they have to replace the flexwatt eventually?

No, their just not being as cautious.

Maybe, I would rather have spent the time making sure it wouldn't rather than not and have to deal with a burning of a rack.

I have had a hot spot in one case. Besides the rubbing the dado gives a nice air space for the heat tape
