This is my third breeding season with my diamond mini colony. 1 male, 1 female, 1 3/4 female.
I just brought them out of their winter sleep 2 weeks ago. The heat pads are on, their room is averaging in the mid to hi 70's and they are also in front of a window so they bask in the sunlight if they want. My male immediately shed, then as of Friday night had blued eyes again as if to shed a second time. I also attempted to feed both females Friday as well, both refused. (Last feeding was in Nov. for the trio)
The female is housed alone and looks a tad thin but both the male and 3/4 female (housed together, 30 eggs 6/04) are still very much full bodied.
Tonight I looked in and they were breeding already!! Neither has eaten since November and the male is mid shed!! I am pretty shocked because they have always had a meal or two in them before going at it. Anyways, I am still a novice to breeding though I've kept various morelia for over 10 years. Is this behavior normal and is there any cause for concern as far as feeding is concerned at this point? Thanks, Brad
