Clear spots on 11 day old e[bleep][bleep]s... [bleep]ood or Bad?

[bleep]oldDra[bleep]on Jul 29, 2003 06:51 PM

Lo[bleep] time reader, first time poster... Had a clutch that was laid 11 days a[bleep]o and now some of them are start[bleep] to [bleep]et clear spots on them. This is the first clutch that my 3 year old has had, so I really did not expect any to make it. Just need to know what causes the clear spots and if there is someth[bleep] that I can do to help. You can see the veins in the e[bleep][bleep]s, so I am sure they are fertile. There is only 3-4 e[bleep][bleep]s that have the clear spots and the rest (11 e[bleep][bleep]s) look just fine.

Thanks for your help...

Steve

Wow! You did mean clear!! I would think it would have somethin to do with calcium. Wouldn't that be awsome if the whole beardie developed while you watched?

not that i am any expert, but it looks like the eggshell is breaking down. Could be insufficient calcium available to the female while developing the eggs, not sure. However if the eggs are still firm and don't rot, I would continue to incubate these eggs to see how they develop.

While your female was gavid, what sort of diet was she on? Did she get regular supplimentation of calcium? Have a good basking temp etc? Maybe knowing her environment and care before laying her eggs will give a better ideal to explain why her eggs are going transparent.
