First Egg Hatched!!!

PHLdyPayne Apr 13, 2006 12:26 AM

Much to my delite, when I returned tonight after spending most of the evening with some friends, I checked the deli dish I have kept my crested gecko eggs to find one has hatched! Today is exactly 65 days from the time the egg was laid. (give or take a day, as I am not 100% sure the egg was lain the same day/evening I discovered it, as I had not checked the night before.

I moved it to it's new home and am wondering when his 'brother' will hatch, hopefully sometime later tonight, so I can move him into the cage as well, before I leave for Easter long weekend.

I incubate at room temperature (which happens to be around 75F) in a take out plastic container which just happened to be deep and wide enough to hold 8 eggs total, comfortably. Enjoy!

Congratulations, such a wonderful thing seeing eggs hatch, no matter how many I see with my lizards, it is always an EGGCITING and thrilling moment.

Hope your lil guy does well and his sibbling/s arrive real soon to keep him company.

Hope we get to see more baby pics

How exciting!! My ten eggs (lacerta lizard) are still looking good. I can't wait to see if they hatch or not!

Second egg hatched during the weekend (while I was away of course but I sort of expected that) It was alive and well but upsetted some of the other eggs a bit, put them straight again and hope none of the developing babies were drowned in the process...none were completely over turned, just knocked a bit on their sides, the labelling could still be clearly seen, only time will tell if nothing bad happened.
