Hi. I have a [bleep]reen [bleep]uana, about 8 months old. Maybe around 2 months a[bleep]o he was show[bleep] s[bleep]ns of MBD, which i noticed r[bleep]ht away. I needed a sto[bleep]er UV l[bleep]ht and to [bleep]ive him more calcium. (said the vet). I did both, and the s[bleep]ns were [bleep]one after a few days, so I [bleep]ured it was [bleep]ood and I ca[bleep]ht it in time. But now I think that he is depressed. Very slow he is mov[bleep], and I found him today in his water (bath[bleep]) with his eyes shut. For a second i tho[bleep]ht he had died, but After i [bleep]rabbed him he showed life. But he is a dark color today, and very slow. Also feels cold. he is in a ca[bleep]e, definitly b[bleep] eno[bleep]h for him, with a bas[bleep] spot of about 95-100 de[bleep]rees, and the ca[bleep]e is around 80-85 everywhere else. The water felt a bit cold when I took him out. I mean, he seemed ok every-other day, just a little scared at times. I work about 70 hours a week, and I try my best to spend time with him, but I do notice him sleep[bleep] at n[bleep]ht and I would rather let him sleep then to wake him just to play with him. I dont know if he is depressed or not, but for today... if that water was too cold, could that have slowed him down? He is VERY mellow r[bleep]ht now. I was hold[bleep] him, then I layed him under the bas[bleep] l[bleep]ht to warm up, where he is now. I am [bleep]o[bleep] to put a l[bleep]ht above the water to [bleep]ive it heat, but I hope that there isnt anyth[bleep] wro[bleep]. Anyone ever experience this? also, would it work out for the better if I [bleep]ot another? I mean, he seems lonely... Please help. thank you.

by the way, I feed him well. He [bleep]ets plenty of calcium. I use BONE-AID to help it. he also [bleep]ets [bleep]ood l[bleep]ht[bleep]. I [bleep]ured this because after install[bleep] the new l[bleep]ht, he healed pretty [bleep]ood since the mear s[bleep]ns of MBD. I take him outside on weekends when I am home dur[bleep] the day.

I dont think another iguana will cheer him up. On the contrary it will stress him even more!Id take him to the vet to make a blood and fecal exams.Perhaps its nothing, but perhaps your ig is showing the signs of something more serious that still can be treated. What's the size of his cage?Igs hate to be caged in a small cage.Sometimes what causes the MBD is not lack of calcium but not the adequae proportions between calcium and phosphorus.

I cannot make much sense of it.

I think to read it we have to change the " bleep" by a "g".

Hey! I took all the bleeps out on my computer, Kingsnake might just put them back in when I post this, but meh, I was really bored

I don't know what to tell you about your iguana though than he does sound pretty lonely to me. Is his water dish on the bottom of his cage? Maybe he goes down to the bottom to try and get out when you're at work because he's so lonely, and just gets tired and falls asleep there? That's definately something Myka would do. I really don't know though, maybe you'll get more replies without the "bleeps"! Good luck! Wendy

Hi. I have a green iguana, about 8 months old. Maybe around 2 months ago he was showing signs of MBD, which i noticed right away. I needed a stongerer UV light and to give him more calcium. (said the vet). I did both, and the signs were gone after a few days, so I figured it was good and I caught it in time. But now I think that he is depressed. Very slow he is moving, and I found him today in his water (bathing)with his eyes shut. For a second i thought he had died, but After i grabbed him he showed life. But he is a dark color today, and very slow. Also feels cold. he is in a cage, definitly big enoughfor him, with a basking spot of about 95-100 degrees , and the cage is around 80-85 everywhere else. The water felt a bit cold when I took him out. I mean, he seemed ok every-other day, just a little scared at times. I work about 70 hours a week, and I try my best to spend time with him, but I do notice him sleeping at night and I would rather let him sleep then to wake him just to play with him. I dont know if he is depressed or not, but for today... if that water was too cold, could that have slowed him down? He is VERY mellow right now. I was holding him, then I layed him under the basking light to warm up, where he is now. I am going to put a light above the water to give it heat, but I hope that there isnt anything wrong. Anyone ever experience this? also, would it work out for the better if I got another? I mean, he seems lonely... Please help. thank you.

by the way, I feed him well. He gets plenty of calcium. I use BONE-AID to help it. he also gets good lighting. I figured this because after installing the new light, he healed pretty good since the mear signs of MBD. I take him outside on weekends when I am home during the day.
