western KY snake

dra[bleep]ontails Jul 29, 2003 07:03 PM

saw a tiny [bleep]reen snake dead on the h[bleep]hway in western KY. It's no more than 18 inches lo[bleep], looks like maybe a racer or whiptail? does anyone know why my last messa[bleep]e has bleep in place of some of the letters?

It could be a Rough Green Snake or possible one of the garter snakes. They can turn blue/green after they die. I am not sure if Smooth Green Snakes make it down into W Kentucky, but that would be another possibility.

The forums are messed up and anytime anyone uses the letter g (the letter between f and h - in case mine gets bleeped out!) it replaces it with a bleep.

That's probably a Rough Green snake. Smooth Green snakes do not range that far south, but their range is very intermittent.

If it was a Roough Green, it must have been killed very recently. Green snakes turn from bright green to blue quickly after death.
