Thamnophis sirtalis pallidula

Nir Apr 13, 2006 11:06 PM

Hi, My name is Nick and I live in Quebec Canada... I have always loved garter snakes for their beauty and amazing variety in the same populations. Tuesday, while checking my "spots", I found a specimen quite unlike others I've found before. I don't think he is albinos cause he has quite a bit of black/brown pigmentation along is body. I would like to know what the people here think of him.

Thanks for looking!

Scott Felzer has some...

I think his website is www.gartersnakemorphs.com

They look similar to yours... But who knows.

I've been trying to access this website for the past two days and it doesn't work. But Caramel albino is an interesting option! Does M. Felzer come here?

It could be albino. There are a few different types. My eastern albino has scales that look brown like yours also.

That's a new morph from what I've seen. Kinda like Hypo.
Whatever it is, it's stunning. That's one of the nicest snakes I've seen in a long time.

As to what the genetics behind this guy could be...

Well I've seen and had specimens like that. Taking the eyes into consideration I would just say it's a light colored normal. No morph.

You think a light colored normal would have red eyes?... Have you ever had pallidula in your collection?
