AWESOME NEWS

xblackheart Apr 13, 2006 11:49 PM

I have some great news. I found my mising snake. She is a yearling amel stripe. She got out about a month ago when the sliding door to her cage got bumped and no one noticed. Well, that is the only thing that I can figure. She is a bit skinnier that when she got out, but is good. I am SOOOO happy. After a month, she was still in the pet room.

I have even better news I will announce in a bit.

WELCOME HOME!!

Glad you got your baby back!

I had a mass escape of hatchling creamsicles awhile back - 11 got out, and 10 were recovered within 24 hours. However, one managed to elude recapture for 2 weeks. Then one day...

"Honey, what are those cats doing?"

The Scene: 4 cats surrounding 1 lone hatchling, gamely holding its own. The snake was rescued alive, but showed visible internal damage from at least two canine (feline?) teeth.

The Outcome: Snake drank water immediately, ate a pinky the next day, and survived to show no permanent ill effects!

Timing is everything!

You bet timing is everything. I was sitting watching my snake lay eggs. I had just opened the window for the first time since the yearling stripe got out. The screen has a hole in it, so I had not opened it in fear that the snake might get outside that way. But, after a month, I figured it was somewhere else in the house and had gotten out of the pet room. Either that or lost for good. My BF came in and sat down. He pointed to my year old bearded dragon who was climbing the walls of his tank trying to get to the crickets in the tank sitting above and to the side of his.
(did I mention Bearded dragons amaze me on their eye sight and awareness of what going on outside their cage)
I looked in that direction, but past the cage. There was the head and about an inch of the yearling stripe (escapee) snake trying to get on the window seal from behind my hatchling rack. Amazing that I looked in the exact right spot, and the exact right time, and was able to see a yearling snake from across the room.
Sorry for the long story. I tend to ramble sometimes. It was very cool, though.
