Have any of you fans of transpecos ratsnakes ever found a photo of an honest to goodness Bogertophis subocularis amplinotus (the mexican subspeices). I've never been able to locate an actual photo. The closest I've gotten is a photo in Schulz that shows a B. s. subocularis that he says resembles amplinotus. Other than that all I've ever seen are drawings of the amplinotus pattern. If you've got a comment please reply.

Thanks for reading
John

I believe there are some photos in the "Monograph" book from near Durango. I have some pics of the pickled specimen that was the first voucher used to describe the subspecies.
I hear there is some debate as to whther they are a sepaerate subspecies, though.
Shoot me an e-mail, and I'll see if I can dig those up and send you one of those amplinotus pics.

Dusty:

I'd definitely like to see the photos you have. I'll email you right after this.

If you mean Schulz's monograph, I have it. Unfortunately the pictures he has are from Nuevo Leon and Coahuila which he says are in the intergrade zone. The one from Nuevo Leon he describes as showing "tendencies toward amplinota" but is still considered subocularis.

John
