WEEK IN REVIEW!!!!

toshamc Apr 14, 2006 11:30 AM

Thank you - to everyone for your kind words and well wishes about my little spill last week – I am doing much better – but feel like I’ve been walking around with a hangover for the last week!!!! Since I am going to get my head examined this afternoon, I'm posting WIR really early this week! Hope you all have a good weekend and a Happy Easter or whichever holiday you are celebrating this weekend!

When treating your snake for mites please use this PAM: not:

Favorite Thermostat Query …. Look at it this way – For cages your thermostat needs to: 1. Be able to be set at a certain temperature and maintain that temperature plus or minus a few degrees and 2. be able to shut off in case of heat tape or thermostat failure – most do - it’s not rocket science - in most cases a $50 thermostat and a $250 thermostat work just as well. For incubation you will need something a bit more precise – or do you really?

Yet another TV show capitalizing on how terrifying snakes are, spreading disinformation and showing the general public how stupid and inept herpers are! Oh yea – thank you animal planet!

Tim Bailey

Poll Results – Percentage of Balls in your collection off feed:

Can humans get their pet sick?!? – That is the age old question – in most cases the same virus’ that get you sick will have no affect on your pets. Unfortunately there are other ways that people and animals pass around germs that make each other sick. But snakes don’t catch the common cold.

Legislative alerts (check the links for info):

Louisiana’s got a new one which knocks back the 12 feet rule to any constrictor … HB783

California’s got a new one in the works – tho it isn’t aimed directly at herps it looks to impact your ability to feed them. AB 2862

New Incubator thread – great pictures of a cooler incubator in progress. Cooler Incubator

IMG theories – here’s mine …. Alien life form plain and simple

Please do not release your animals – interesting thread about FLs proposed law that would require python buyers to complete state training, buy a license and face jail time if they let their snakes loose.

Websites – if you are going to have one, spend less time trying to make them look perdy and more time keeping them up to date.

I hope everything goes well for you at the doctor's office, and thanks again for a great WIR. I had missed most of the clowns in the confusion of this week. They are spectacular animals.

It's not how many snakes you have. It's how happy and healthy you can keep them.

Thanks for your TWIR, and especially the clown photos.

Great work, and you might want to keep the whole snake hobby thing on the down low at the docs office... Never know what those crazy docs will do, no, really.

That was a good comment. It's true, but it was also funny. In this case, I can see the doctor writing in his notes, "The patient suffered a head injury last week and now believes that there are dozens of snakes living in her house. She claims to like them, but I'll need to order more tests."

Haha, yeah, and then recommend you to a therapist. Whom he also just so happens to play golf with... Damn them for their nice cars, good paid off education, and lavish life-styles...
