New to Snakes

(First off, I just wanna say that Im really sorry if this post is in the wrong place, lol.) Ok, recently I got rid of all of my fish fry in my 29 gallon, and while we were giving them away at the store I fell in love with what they had labeled at "Green Tree Snakes." I convinced my mom to let me get one for my now empty 29 gallon, rather than wait two years until college when I'd get one anyway (we're going back once I find out more about them). So now I'm trying to do reasearch on them, which has proved harder than I originally thought since the names are very confusing. Basically they were between a foot and a foot and a half long, a bright green color with very slender bodies and large yellowish eyes. The pet store guys didnt know much, but they said that the snakes would be good in a 29 gallon. I tried to get a picture of them on my phone but It came out too dark, but this one that I found is a very good likness of them.

If anyone has some helpful info on them (like what they eat, how long they live/big they get, or any other requirements for them) please let me know.

I noticed an adult Garter wasn't expressed, Scott Felder has come nice morphs as well as normals, they are fairly active, and fairly docile as well...now getts an adult would mean you would need to make sure they are feeding on pinky mice, babies tend to need to have scented pinky parts if they will take them at all right away...just an idea

i think what you are talking about is a rough green tree snake. They stay small and eat crickets for food. I hear they get stressed out easier than most snakes, so they arent good for handling but they make excellent display snakes. I have heard of people making terrariums with both frogs and rough green tree snakes since that type of snake only eats bugs.

Search google or this site for rough green tree snake, should turn up all you need to know.

The snake you have indicated is a rough green snake. While such would do okay in a 29 gallon aquarium, providing you supply plenty of opportunities for climbing and hiding, you must take into consideration the species is primarily insectivorous and will require quality UV lighting.

Good luck,

Jeff
