Hello all, On March 26 I got a Super Hypo female 28 grams and a High yellow Male 52 grams at a repitle show. They were together in the box the guy gave me but I didn't know her weight at the time and also didn't think they would breed that quickly on the way home( of course its possible they had already been togehter prior to that with the other owner). This was a trade. Anyways yesterday I noticed the eggs formation in her abdomen and I put her in a lay box and she has started digging. My question. How bad is this going to be on this female? She is very healthy but small for breeding age, Is there anything to help her along the way? does she need any more vitamins/ calcium/ or anything else. She has the calcium in a dish in her cage and eats great But I am concerned how this will affect her. I am sure it has happened to others before so any thoughts would be appreciated. I had planned to breed her once she had gained the correct amount of grams with my SHTCTB male well I guess I am too late on that..... Thanks Deb

She will need a lot of extra calcium and vitamins. Supplement daily. Leave it in the enclosure with her as well as dusting her prey items. This could be very hard on her, and it could be a walk in the park. It just depends on how well she is supplemented, as well as how willing she (and her body) is to lay. However this has a high probability of stunting her growth.

Kirmy layed one egg on 1-1-06, I weighed her on 1-28 and she was 30.4g so this is close to your problem. She passed the one egg fine, in fact I didnt even know untill normal maintanence produced the egg. She dose seem to have been stunted slightly as her little boy friend is almost a year younger and has already outgrown her. Keep a close eye on her and supliment as the other poster said, good luck and keep us informed. Are ou planing on incubating the egg/s?

Hi Jason, Yes, I plan to incubate the eggs. And I hope for female. I am a Bearded dragon breeder so this is going to be alittle different as this will be the first gecko eggs I have had. I started to obtain some geckos for my daughter who wants to start breeding them, we have a pair of RW albinos, A trio of Tangs( one Super Hypo Tang CT baldy, One Super Hypo Tang and the Super Hypo) then I have four Red stripes, three blizzards(0ne is a banana) and some High yellows( many of the two last ones are just babies) But the others are adults or nearing the adult stage in just a few more months. So I have a good starting collection but honestly didn't know she was gravid until I went to weigh her and saw the egg formation so then I did the math and she had to have bred just about the time I picked her up give or that a day or two before. So do you know how I can incubate these eggs with my beardie eggs? I want the geckos to be female. I never change the temp in the incubator for beardies. So does anyone know the best method so that they will be girls and it wouldn't hurt my beardie eggs? Thanks a million! Deb

What temperature do you incubate the beardie eggs at?

82-86 is the idea temp for Beardie eggs. Mine are usually around 85. I am fairly sure that the beardie eggs can even stay between 80-82 but they take longer to hatch. And of course if it gets too cold in a room and it goes lower then they can die. I can lower the incubatore some of course but I'm concerned that at night when I turn the room air conditioner off it will go back up some what. Which wouldn't bother the beardie eggs because they do not become a certain sex by temp. I know if during the day the air wasn't on the temps get very high in the kitchen where the incubator is and of course the temps in there go up as well. So what do you suggest is the best way to do this? I can't even leave the eggs in the reptile room because it stays in the 90's most of the time with the beardies lights on. I just hope there is a happy medium here. In time I can get another incubator since I want to make mostly girl geckos. Thanks for any help you can give me. I am heading to check her now to see if she has laid her eggs. Oh do Geckos lay at any certain time of day. Beardies seem to lay in the after noon between 1-4 usually. Deb

Well this girl that I have been talking about, laid two nice white oblong eggs side by side in her nest box. She is acting fine and I have put them in the egg container and into the incubator which is set at 82 right now. I will be watching it most of the night to see how it regulates since I had to turn it down last night knowing she was going to lay them soon and it was set higher for my beardies. But I want female geckos! Any tips are welcome. These are my first gecko eggs so I am pretty excited. Deb

aww! im glad to hear they passed okay! I would feed her and let her eat all the crickets,or whatever you feed as many as she wants. they most of the time get very hungry after laying, I know my girls do.
