Looking for screen tops

Cats&Frogs Jul 29, 2003 08:06 PM

I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I have two 10-gallon aquariums that came with a "sliding" screen top. By this, I mean that there is no trim on the front section of glass and the screen slides to the back on tracks. One aquarium was given to me without a top and the other top caved in when my 22 pound cat sat on it. I'd like to replace the tops, but don't know where to get them. The pet store in town says they don't sell them without the tank. Does anyone know what the heck I'm talking about, AND know where I can get them?
Thanks!

i know what your talking about. almost all of my cages are by that brand.. i would suggest trying to call creative habitat and seeing if they sell replacement screen tops.. i tried to see if they had a website but couldn't find one.. i would go back to the petstore and look for a phone number or email adress on the cages packaging.. if not you can just rip off the track and buy a regular screen top or if your handy you can make you own screen to slide into the track..some hardware stores sell screen window kits.. just cut the metal to legnth and fit in the screen.. it takes about 15 mins and looks great...

Yes, I know exactly what you're talking about and I have never seen them sold without the aquariums. You might, though, ask how to contact the people who make the aquariums to see if they would sell you the tops separately. It's worth a try.

http://www.outbackreptileco.com/terr.html and http://www.absolutereptile.com/ both carry the creative habitat cages with the sliding lids...neither of them list screens separately, but maybe they can point you in the right direction, or maybe if they have a cage where the glass broke but the screen is still intact....
