A new method I heard that works well is to put the boa in a damp bag (cloth snake bag) and put the bag back in the cage for a while. The snake will move around in the bag which will be humid and should be able to rub off the shed.

I have a retic which has trouble shedding every once in a while from lack of humidity. My old boss let me know how to help a snake shed pretty good. I use a normal cooler. My retic is only a few feet long so I fill the cooler up about 3 inches with luke warm water and let the snake soak about an hour or so. (The longer it has been since he was supposed to shed let him soak longer) After the hour the skin should be soft and wet enough to just slide right off. When you shed the snake make sure you always start at the mouth and slide back just like they normaly would. Goodluck.
