The Eastern Coral Snake:

is mimicked by the Scarlet Kingsnake:

and the Scarlet Snake which I have not personally photographed (and which is not a king or milk snake).
Although the mountain kingsnake complex mimicks the Coral Snakes, most of them are not found in the same ranges as the Coral Snakes.
Hope this helps,

Do you keep Corals? It is a shame they are venomous because I would have some if they weren't. They are beautiful. Thanks for sharing. Derek

I agree that, in the U.S., the scarlet king (and perhaps the mexican milk)are the closest coral imitators. But in Central and South America there are many much closer matches! Believe it or not, the tangerine phase of the honduran milksnake is almost a dead ringer for the sympatric coral snake species!

Hiya,
I maintain a number of venomous snakes at a wildlife park, we have several coral snakes (one of which I caught on the highway at night). They are not so easy to keep, most turn up their nose at any food item except ring neck snakes which I go out and catch.. some times they'll get tired of these and eventually have to release them or risk them not getting enough to eat. Keeping kings is much easier.
