I took my new girl to the vet today, and the vet confirmed that this snake is a female. They checked the fecal sample and found no evidence of any intestinal parasites. The vet said that the sores look exactly like sores she's seen on snakes that are fed live prey. She said that none of the sores are infected and said that they should go away in a shed or two. She recommended trying to get my girl converted to f/t. I couldn't get her to whistle for the vet, but the vet said that there were no signs of respiratory problems. She didn't have anything in the nostrils, and the vet said that if she wasn't wheezing enough for her to hear, then it shouldn't be a problem. Apparently, some snakes just whistle occasionally even if they are healthy. I'll give her a few more days to acclimate to the new surroundings and then start trying to feed her.
The next step will be thinking of a good name. I've thought about "Goldie" because of her color, but that doesn't seem very original. I can tell I'm getting old when I can't immediately think of any blonde actresses who appeal to me. We haven't had any hurricanes recently, so I don't have that source of names. I'll be contemplating this one for a while.

It's not how many snakes you have. It's how happy and healthy you can keep them.
