Calico Chuckwallas????

kaisar sose Apr 15, 2006 03:11 PM

Did you guys notice the classified ad for Calico Chuckwallas yesterday? It disappeared pretty quickly. It seems as if someone has successfully bred hispidus and varius. I'm Not sure why you would do that. There were no pictures or price only a link to a web page. The ad was posted by TS in the UK but now the ad and web page are gone. Strange. Maybe a joke?

Tom, did you know that someone was creating designer chuckwallas???

They must be trying to challenge DVL's mighty Mutt's

Thanks Tom. I found it curious that the add went away so quickly.

While I have you....

The male hispidus that you sent me is doing really well. Dog tame and growing fast. It's amazing how mello this species is even at young age.

The Calico Chucks are not a joke. They are very nice animals and worth every penny. Since the varius started at $1,000 ea. as babies and the long drawn out process of permits sometimes granted to chuck enthusiasts . The $1,000/pr. for 6 month old hybrid healthy juvies are a great buy. The colors get more and more vivid with each shed. Of course, there is controversy with hybridization. However, days of micro chip for ID and blood line geneology are safeguards to passing off hybrids as purebreds. In addition, there so many pure varius here in AZ that can't find a home the price has dropped dramatically. I still breed pure hispidus and can produce pure varius should the need develop.
