do females or male snakes grow larger or are they usually the same?

I have heard that male cornsnakes grow larger than the female, and I have heard that most female boas and pythons are much bigger than the male boas and pythons. But I know that you can get a small male cornsnake that is much smaller than an average size female cornsnake.
