STUCK ON WAXWORMS

bluetreefingers Apr 15, 2006 10:54 PM

my female is gravid, and is soon to lay her second clutch of eggs. i understand that its normal for them to eat little or none at all while gravid, so im not concerned about that.
everytime i put in crickets she wont even notice them, but she will however munch on waxworms alot. and though they're not as healthy as crickets its much much better than eating nothing, so im ok with it.

now my concern is:
will she like the waxworms too much that once the breeding season is over, she wont eat anything but waxworms?

Yes you should be concerned with this. If she gets in the habit of wax worms it will take time to ween her off them. My vet calls them Gecko snickers. All fat and little nutrition. As soon as she lays stop offering her wax worms. She will be very hungry then and it will be the best time to do this. She may hold out for a weak or so but stick to it.
