Why are some igs so different in color?

Quincy Apr 16, 2006 09:10 AM

I know that different locals can make them different but among normal (common) iggs there seems to be a wide range of color..As in some are darker and uglier, some are bright green and pretty....I thought it might be a health issue but at the petstore the sickest and skinniest(that looked like it didnt have long to live) was the brightest green and prettiest...

Just like humans and most other animals have variations in hair color, skin tone, and eye color. igs can vary in color from the bright lime green to a dark green and even brown. if you look at pics of some igs on this site then you will be able to see how different most igs look.

It depends on location, origin, as well as health, temperature, "hormones", and mood.

You can rescue an ugly iguana and rehabilitate it into a bright green beauty within weeks or few months of proper diet and captive conditions.
