Just curious-does anyone know who owns the largest captive python in the U.S right now? What is its length/weight? Is it Bob Clark's "Fluffy"? I also heard about a 27 ft Burm in the midwest somewhere.....

Lou Dadano who owns Serpent Safari in Gurnee Mills IL. is the owner of Baby. Baby is a huge burm that weighs 400 pounds. The length was recorded by the Guinness record team as being the longest living snake at the time. I think they claimed she was 27' but I could be wrong. Lou is an old acquaintance of mine from many years back when we showed our animals at local herp shows.

I found this under Serpent Safari on Yahoo picture search. I guess it could be real.

Baby died the last I've heard about it.

I apologize in advance if I am continuing a false rumor and if anyone with specific knowlege can correct me, I'll be happy to try and let everyone know it was wrong...and will put a trip out to see her back on my list.
That said: I have also heard (a year or two ago) from several sources that Baby had died. I have also heard from at least one source that the owners just put their second largest burm on display and named it Baby...
...search,search,search...I just did a little searching and found where someone had posted a pic on another board 6 months ago that they took of "Baby" at Serpent Safari, and there is no way it is the 400 pound moster I've seen pics of before...
.
Honestly she looked smaller to me too in person. Last week was the first time I have seen her in several years. The markings and coloration looked the same though. Who really knows. I never thought she was that impressive to begin with just always looked like an extremely obese burmese to me.

Ya I just saw her a month ago and she didnt look no 27 feet and 400 pounds. she looked like she was close to 20 feet and extremly obese. I would not be surprized if it was not the original baby.

You just sparked some memories. When I was little, the year that I got my first snake (a desert kingsnake, who turned out to be too aggressive for my parents to tolerate
), I also got my first issue of reptiles magazine. The february 1994 edition, which is still my favorite! On page 42 it has an article on Louis Daddono and Baby, along with a pretty cool picture.
Anyone else have that issue? I saw on their website that reptiles magazine allows you to order any old issues. I think I might order another copy of it, because mine is obviously a bit warn out (it's 12 years old, afterall).
But as to whether or not the Baby at Serpent Safari is the original...I really wouldn't know. By my calculations, she would be about 25 by now, which is old for a burm, but there's a good possibility for a burm to live longer than that, right?
Someone really needs to get to the bottom of this and figure out if baby really died or not.
