RETF's in Exo-terra

cammyleon Apr 16, 2006 03:46 PM

Does anyone keep RETF's in the 18x18x18 Exo-terra? How many adults can I house together? I was thinking of getting three young RETF's at the next reptile show. Can they be kept in groups without fighting when mature? If anyone has a picture of an Exo-terra for RETF's I'd like to see it. Thanks!

i'm not really sure what you mean about "exo-terra for RETF" they make exo-terra cages for everything, not just for RETF. as far as housing three, it would be pushing it but would be ok, not ideal. you can house three together as long as you only have one male. 1 male and 2 females is ok, just not more than one male, good luck and e -mail if you have more questions!

I'm just talking about the standard Exo-terra. I just want to see picture of an Exo-terra setup for RETF's.

I had first considered the Exoterra as well, I really like the front opening. I wish I would have went with it now, but like said I wouldn't put more than 3 adults in there. There is one taller than that, the 18x24 which would be best. They are climbers and you could put alot of plants in there. I'm loving the pothos, you just can't kill it!

It is hard to sex them as babies so I guess I don't know what I'd do as that's what I planned as well. I've read that they are best kept in groups of 3-5 though never heard of not having more than one male. Actually if you intend to breed they say 1 female to 2-3 males. Just what I've read and not from any experience.

I'm going to work on a permanent, adult tank next year, I'm hoping to start with 3 babies this year and then add two more next year.

Just found this on another board I peek at, it's done to the nines but can give some great ideas on the possibilities, it's super natural looking, gotta believe the frogs in there are loving it.

It's towards the bottom.

I LOVE the vivariums on that site!

My tank is for WTFs so the branches are sturdier than what you'd need for RETFs, but if it helps (and it's not anywhere near as nice as the tanks in the link in the last post, too bad).

Oh, this is the largest exo-terra, the 18x18x24".

I like yours too, I really wish I'd have gone with it now. Although I'd love to have the opening one the side so the view is unobstructed. I'd want a water feature too. I'd need more big leaved plants in there for the RETFs too, I love all that wood in yours!
