update need more advice

ps Apr 16, 2006 07:57 PM

Okay so there were 5 left that came home with me, one is pretty much not going to make it, it cant even lift its head

1 is pretty week, not as bad as the really bad one

2 are really skinny but active

1 - smallest seems to be least sick and I think has the highest chance of survival

-----------
I am hand feeding repta aid with neutralite as well as I have anti parasite food. The fecal tests came back negative when they were at the vet checked at work but the vet gave them a shot of baytril and the parasite food

The warm side day is 89-91 degrees and the cold side is 75 in the day

How often should I be trying to feed, is there anything (other than jumpstart) that I can get to help them? I put waxworms and mealworms in first to see if they will hunt, but they have no interest in food at all.

Any and all advice is welcome - My keyboard at home is not working so I cannot type any responces for a while, but will keep checking to see if anyone has offered advice. I really appreciate it, I really dont want the work saying "a sick lizard is as good as dead" to come true. I'd like to save these guys.
Thanks

Oh like I said they are at an age when they are starting to get there spots

Here is a slurry formula from Marcia McGuiness at Golden Gate Geckos, I think most the top breeders use it for sick Leos, I'm sure she won't mind me sharing it:

In a blender, combine:

1 small can Hill's A/D pet food (available at most vets)
1/4-1/3 cup Ensure (not chocolate)
1 jar baby food squash
1/4-1/3 cup Pedialite
2 tablets or contents of 2 capsules milk thistle (herbal supplement, liver purifier, found at most drug stores.)
1/2 tsp. each calcium powder and herp vitamin powder
1 large handful of mealworms, added slowly while mixture is blending

Puree all ingredients until completely smooth, and pour into ice cube tray(s) and freeze. Store cubes in zip-lock bag in the freezer until ready to use, then thaw out 1 cube at a time and store in fridge for 2-3 days. I use the empty baby food jar for this purpose, washing it thoroughly after each batch.

Using this mixture, draw a full dropper (eye dropper type) and place a drop on the gecko's nose. It will lick it off, and as it does, slowly squeeze out a little at a time. Most geckos love this food, and will lap it up."
