Opinions on possible Jungle

ghackney Apr 17, 2006 03:19 PM

Just got this guy from PK. Here is what we know. The parents are Salmon X Jungle 100% het albino. So, the male is Salmon possible Jungle 50% het albino. I think he is a Jungle and I have a couple people who agree. Just wanted some other opinions. I have plans on breeding him to a DBL het striped/albino and possibly an anery...
Tried to do some contrasting pics. Still doesn't show the red down his sides!
Thanks Greg

I did not mean to pull away from your post...from the first pic I would say yeah, but the other 2 take that away......Please keep in mind, I am no expert and just barely got my own jungle.

Congrats on a killer animal, and I hope you will prove me wrong!

The main reason I picked this one was the fact it was 50% het albino to boot. Not to mention I went through several w/PK before going w/this one. The first picture tells a lot. Check out the ovals in the saddles. Check out about the 5th one up from the stripe and the elongated saddles. He has a solid redish hue all the way up his sides... Much better in person. Did I mention he was 50% het albino? Anyway, opinions wanted!

ajfreptiles Apr 17, 2006 04:26 PM

Hey Chris...what about that one leads you to believe it could be a Jungle? Thanks Andy

giantkeeper Apr 17, 2006 05:43 PM

I will first comment and say that my first clue, is that it's not from your hypo litters.....and then

the color seperation on that boa, the saddle shapes, and I also compared the pictures side by side with actual normal Jungles from Pete's website.

Do you see something about him that would make you think he is not???? Apparently Pete does, so it's very possible.

Hey Chris, now that we are becoming such great buds...look at the next post of mine and let me know why that one is no where near as nice! Thanks Andy
-----

giantkeeper Apr 17, 2006 05:56 PM

for starters, because they are not from the proven line of Jungles. Second, I can't see the pictures...maybe your host is down. If they are the same boas you've asked us about 100 times, I would say they are outstanding boas, but regardless of what you prove them out to be....they'll never be Jungles.

Part of my issue with this subject is that you are jumping the gun...take the time to prove them out, and yes, you already know what we think of your boas. They are really nice...but do we need to reassure you of that every time?

Are you going to not keep them if we don't like them??

I'd say you have a decent shot of it proving out. The saddle shape has a jungle look on a couple. Too bad salmons are so darn ab on their own lol.

Good luck proving this one.

Boas make the world go round.

I believe yours truly does have a good shot at being a jungle....but I realize they must be proved out...but based on apearance..I would lean to yes...then coupled with the fact you got it from Peter Kahl as a poss Jungle the odds do stand in your favor....
I would just like to say...that I have been told "no way" on these as possible Jungles...but yet the look is just as dramatic...I just wonder why? I know proving them out is ultimately the final factor...so when I do... I will know for sure...but so much red tape on the subject...Enjoy the pics! Andy

This one without flash...

Thanks Andy

I know I have to prove him but the possibility of him being a Salmon Jungle het albino was awesome!!! If he does prove out, can you imagine?

*Yours look awesome! What were their parents?

ajfreptiles Apr 17, 2006 05:36 PM

Thank you! Yours looks great! I hope it does prove out for you and also the het albino part!!!! That would be great!

I bred an unknown bloodline female to a Rich Ihle Salmon boa...

Take care, Andy Federico

Your hypos are killer no doubt but in my opinion do not look jungle. Jungles really do have specific signature phenotypes ... aberrancies being just one part of that. Color being another, and by that I mean a specific type of color in varying degrees. They also often have a certain look to their saddles and the way the color runs... a certain type of peppering is also seen often (concentrated laterally). I honestly dont see any of this in your hypos. The are super light and nicely colored ... and have a real nice and unique look to them... but, at this point, I dont see any reason to believe there is anything beyond that.

No opinion on mine? I think my post got lost...

RyanHomsey Apr 17, 2006 09:51 PM

It's certainly possible (obviously... any boa from a jungle litter technically has the possibility)...

Seeing as that it has some aberrancies it leans it somewhat in favor but not much honestly. If I had to guess I would say not but you never know. Awesome salmon either way and I wish you the best of luck.

Just playing around... Thanks for the thought...

ajfreptiles Apr 17, 2006 09:59 PM

Greg,
I am sorry I botched up your thread...I'll be more careful. Andy
-----

ajfreptiles Apr 17, 2006 09:56 PM

Ryan, I am not in any way saying they are Jungles...only asked if they appeared like Jungles....I have seen Jungles and even Celia's Jungles in person...while in Daytona....That is why I did ask because although you may not see it in the pics...I see the similarities...

Here is a pic of one I was talking about...this was taken without a flash...

Hey I love them anyway no matter what they are...but I have been trying to figure out what is going on with them ever since they have been born...they get brighter and brighter! It's almost scary! Take care Ryan, hope to meet you someday!! Andy
