So what does the future hold for burms...

Scott_Sullivan Jul 29, 2003 10:27 PM

Well, I was just curious. With all the morph you see in the ball python community as well as some others (cornsnakes, for one), what does everyone see for future morphs and combinations of these morphs? Is there a melanistic burm out there? I would love to see a completely jet black burm, that would be a sight to behold (for some reason I just love jet black snakes, even though I don't own any). Any insight would be appreciated. Take care, Scott.

But seriously- the market is much smaller in scope and Burms reproduce a lot more- I hope people consider an ethical reality if they decide to breed.

,... most of my own current projects or future projects currently "on the drawing board" are all [Top Secret] and held close to the chest. I assume it is this way with most of the morph breeders that have a great idea and want to be the first to produce it. but I can certainly say that there will be many new burms to come in the next few years. As well as hybridized burm morphs, retic, rock, etc.

And as far as ball pythons go,.. there are some really neat morphs in the ball group, like the piebalds, but quite frankly i think there are WAY TOO MANY supposedly "different" morphs. I saw one website with so many pictures of supposedly different morphs and most of them looked almost identical in color and pattern. I think the ball morph world got just a little carried away, but that's just my opinion. I personally think that a different morph should be STRIKINGLY different from any other phase.

It has the granite pattern and the green color. It still has to be raised up and bred to prove it out. I feel the granite gene has more in store for us than we know.
