my green tree frogs turn green and then brown at random periods.

I have this with my gecko too, and have heard of it alot on other boards with frogs. It really should be covered in some manual! I believe it's normal, mine is brown in the morning and as soon as he's been in the light a couple hours he has his yellow back! He's diurnal.

My wtfs do the same thing-they often change from a dark chocolate brown (mmmm.... chocolate frogs!)to a light green. As do my anoles. And my fire-bellied toads too-they turn a dark almost-black to a light green!

Who needs a chameleon (although they're pretty cool too)!!!

Green tree frogs do change colour. They can be a muddy brown one day and a bright emerald green the next. I can have a dozen of them in the same vivarium and not one will be the same shade. It's natural and part of their adaptations, I've been keeping them for years and still have not pin pointed a mood, temp or hunger etc as a trigger.
