Moving to a different setup for feeding time?

gabrielmtl Feb 07, 2003 08:44 AM

My cage is way too big to just put crikets in for General to find... they escape all the time one way or a other and that only results in my landlord coming to see me with alive crikets in his hands...

So I build him a small other setup and I move him in there when its eating time. It's been going great, he eats a lot more now that he doesnt have to find them. I leave him in there for around a hour and then I put him back in the big cage under his basking spot.

Is that bad? Anyone else here does it that way?

thanks!

Sounds like a good idea. Especialy if your landlord gets pissed about the crickets. Many turtle keepers feed their turtles in a seperate container, so this is not uncommon. Good luck with that.

I use a different method (may sound crude).
I cut the ankles off of the hind jumping legs then dust them and throw them in a large slippery container big enoughf for the lizards to sit in. The crickets can't get out unless there is a lizard laying beside the container dangling its tail in it. Keeping this container in a shaded unfrequented area would be a good idea. I also throw some water droplets and fruit and vegetables in the food container. Crickets eat all the time, even when they have their ankles cut off and are in slippery containers awaiting their demise.
