Ups and DHL accept reptiles but not snakes. DHL has a small animal waiver you can fill out but you cannot insure packags. You can set up and account with fedEx to be an approved animal shipper but it takes time! with ups and DHL people usually mark the box as something else. ive gotten turtles and geckos although i dont own either

What they dont know cant hurt them. I worked for a reptile shop and we soley used UPS. The driver who picked up knew exactlly what was in the boxes and didnt care. I worked there for 3 years but they still use them today with no problems. I also use UPS now and have never had a problem. There policy says that you cant ship snakes, but as long as you dont tell them there is a snake in the box and pack your own package there is no way they can find out.

Wrong. Packages can be damaged and snakes found at that time. Packages can also be opened and checked at any time during transit without the shipper's knowledge if UPS is suspicious about its possible contents. People have been caught.

seems like an easy way to lose an expensive snake.. you probably could, and im sure it happens, but why risk it? my 2 cents...

I have shipped several times with UPS and the boxes are clearly marked with the contents - cornsnakes, boas, kingsnakes, and ball pythons. I use a local UPS packaging store and the owner made several calls to make sure that he could ship the snakes.

I spent over an hour on the phone with UPS. a combo of talking to people and being put on hold. The policy for UPS is you CAN NOT ship snakes. Yes people do all the time and some drives and stations know and dont care. HOWEVER, lets say you have a hard ass or a employee who doesnt like snakes and the little guy gets pissed and hisses in the box. well Consider the snake gone and ur account flagged. I am verified for FedEx. i will ship any method the person wants but its at their own risk. My next step is delta! My hypo X hog that i got from Ed lilly hissed in the box and FedEx refused to deliver it. It made it to My local station where i had to leave work and pick it up. i was PISSED!

If youre FedEx verified you wont have problems though.

I am Certified with FedEx but on occasion I ship with UPS, but I wouldn't do it if it wasn't legal. Rob at the packaging store spent a little time on the phone to make sure it was okay. My packages are clearly marked with the contents (no secrets). The first time I walked into the FedEx hub after doing all the paperwork and signed the legal papers and had the approval from my sales rep. FedEx turned me away saying that they didn't ship snakes, which you and I know is not the truth. I then had to call my sales rep. and she cleared things up with my FedEx location. Now it's not a problem. Interesting how this all works. Anyways if UPS won't do it for you then get certified with FedEx.
