Odd Hatchling Behavior

vegasbilly Apr 17, 2006 11:50 PM

Hi all,

This is my first foray into this Forum. I've been breeding one pair of Dragons for 4 years now and have had healthy clutches consistently throught the years.

I've noticed w/my babies that many of them seem to "spaz" after drinking and also at other times during the day. This can best be described as a slight paralysis wherein the arms and legs quiver and the lizard is semi-immobile for 30 seconds or so. If picked up, the spasms stop. It almost seems like a nervous system developmental thing or the water "overloads" their little bodies. If not handled, they "snap out" of it on their own in 30 seconds or so and run off like nothing happened.

It quits at about 2 months and all of them have grown into healthy, vibrant animals. Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks,

Bill

Mine always seem to be trying to dry themselves off by rubbing themselves on anything dry. Looks weird but seems to be normal behavior.
